What It Is

Heritage Tourism Reimagined Through AI and AR

CheritAR is EDT's AI-powered augmented reality platform for heritage tourism. Developed in partnership with Think City, CheritAR places conversational AI avatars at historical landmarks — giving every site a knowledgeable, always-available guide that visitors can have a real conversation with.

It runs entirely in the mobile browser — no app download required. Visitors from over 12 countries have already interacted with CheritAR across three active Kuala Lumpur locations.

CheritAR is available for deployment at heritage sites, museums, cultural institutions, and tourism destinations across Malaysia and internationally.

Inside the National Textile Museum, CheritAR avatars guide visitors through Malaysia’s textile heritage — explaining the cultural significance of songket, batik, and IKAT weaving traditions in an interactive conversational format.

How It Works

Four Steps from Scan to Story

01

Scan the QR

A QR code is placed at the heritage site. Visitors scan it with any smartphone camera — no app download, no account registration.

02

Activate in Browser

CheritAR launches directly in the mobile browser. The camera activates and the AR environment loads within seconds.

03

AR Avatar Appears

A contextually designed AR avatar emerges in the visitor's environment, anchored to the physical space around the landmark.

04

Ask Questions

Visitors speak or type their questions. The AI avatar responds with accurate, curated information about the site's history, architecture, and cultural significance.
